Primary prevention trials used cut-points starting at 45 for men and 55 for women. In practice, clinicians might consider treatment for those of younger age who have strong risk factors such as familial hypercholesterolemia or diabetes. Problems include cost and issues of longterm safety, although statins are reasonably safe and less likely to cause serious harm than aspirin. Adverse effects are usually reversible. As with most generations, the Millennials are predicted to have certain health related issues which separates them from previous generations.
